Look for God in Others

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school...
His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books.
I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.
They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.
His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him.
He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes...My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.
As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives."
He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"
There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.
I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before.
He said he had gone to private school before now.
I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.
We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.
I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends.
He said yes. We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.
Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.
I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!" He just laughed and handed me half the books.
Over the next four years, ! Kyle and I became best friends.
When we were seniors, we began to think about college.
Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I was going to Duke.
I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship.
Kyle was valedictorian of our class.
I teased him all the time about being a nerd.
He had to prepare a speech for graduation.
I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak.
Graduation day, I saw Kyle
He looked great.
He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.
He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.
He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.
Boy, sometimes I was jealous.
Today was one of those days.
I could see that he was nervous about his speech.
So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!"
He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled "Thanks," he said.
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began "Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years."
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach.. but mostly your friends...
I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story."
I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met.
He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.
He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home.
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.
"Thankfully, ! I was saved.
My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.
Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.
Never underestimate the power of your actions.
With one small gesture you can change a person's life.
For better or for worse.
God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way.
Look for God in others.

Faith in Satguru

We have taken Gyan but our faith in guru only begin if we see Nirankar in sat guru and sat guru in Nirankar. But it is guru who always take care of his Gursikhs needs and always protect him from all worries. Like I always have faith in Satguru and Nirankar and he is always there for me for all my needs. Just want to share a small incident happened recently. It could be incident for out side world but for me I will say it blessings of my Satguru. I have a small business and with Satguru blessings it doing good. One day I had to go out for delivery of my goods what we make so I left with my truck. I told my wife to lock up the doors of factory and she can go because I might get late. Well she left as told but she forgot to lock one door in the back. I came back may be after hour half and saw somebody waiting from me. This was driver of some other company who had come to deliver some stuff for me. He was little scared and worried and told me that I had left back door unlocked. I asked him what had happened and told me go look inside there is some body in your factory. I told him may be my wife is not gone he said no, somebody in white clothes with white turban was roaming inside the factory. I was little surprised too who could it be I told him lets go inside but when we went inside there was no body. We went in the office and he saw Sat guru Baba Hardev Ji picture and said this person was there who was roaming and told him to wait until I came back. Then I came know that while I was gone Baba Ji was there who was taking care of my factory. Saints I want to tell u once we surrender ourself to Nirankar and Satguru, who is only the one who take care of our needs and protect us from everything. But we have to surrender completely and do what he is asking us to do Sewa, Simran and Satsang and have faith in him and he will always do what ever is good for us. Dhan nirankar.

Know God for Peace Within and Calm Outside

Today, Man is constantly at war with man due to ego, pride and material passion. Everyday we hear of violence going on around the world due to man’s greed. We often hear man using the words "I, My, Mine", because he is forever claiming things to belong to him. However, even when individuals, groups or countries claim to be in a peaceful state, one can say that they still have not gained total peace and bliss. Yes, there may be external peace achieved but not everlasting internal peace. Total peace of mind can only be achieved by knowing who and where the creator is. This can only be done after gaining the knowledge of God (GIAN).
Man sets many goals for himself to achieve during his lifetime. For example, he wants to be rich, have a respected job or to be better than those around him in every way possible. The main goal in life should, however, be to receive this knowledge of God, then use it in daily life.
After receiving God Knowledge man realizes that every thing he once believed to be his own is really a gift from God and can be taken away at any moment of time. He also realizes that all these material belongings are mere illusion and that one should not become too attracted to them as this would lead one to forget God and never having internal peace.
There is a short story. Once a child went to the fair ground with his father. The child was so overwhelmed by the various attractions of the fair - bright lights, loud music, sweets and toys that he let go off his father’s hand. He then later realized that he was no longer in his father’s protection but was now standing alone at the fair. All the bright lights, amusements and rides which once attracted the young child, now started to make him cry and scared. Similarly, today man is becoming too attracted to everything that surrounds him. He allows these material matters make him let go off the Lord Master’s Hand. Thinking he no longer need’s God to direct through life. Only when man has the knowledge of God will he find that he not changed by the outside world but he in fact changes the world around him.
Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj once said in his discourses (Vichar) that we are living in a world of guided missiles by misguided men. Baba Ji lives his life as an example of how we should all live our life. If we use this God Knowledge and Baba Ji’s teachings in our life, there will no longer be hatred between humans, man will no longer be egoistic, we would see all humans as equals and treat our neighbors as we would treat our brothers and sisters.
In my eyes this is the only way that true universal brotherhood, world peace and unity can be achieved and this dream can be turned into reality.

The Nature of God-Realization

A thought comes to me almost everyday, what does it mean to be a God- Realized person? Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj our Satguru really stresses the qualities of a God-Realized individual, qualities such as love, compassion, tolerance, equipoise, large heartedness etc. But I often ask myself, after having the Brahm-Gyan, do I really encompass these qualities in my life in totality, as Babaji wants?
I believe that I have certain facets of the experience regarding these qualities, but they are not pervasive in my lifestyle. So the question arises-are we God- Realized if we do not have the qualities of a Brahm-Gyani (God Realized Soul) BUT have the Brahm-Gyan or is the Brahm-Gyan sufficient without these qualities. When I asked Baba ji, he looked at me very seriously and said, "You must remember this Gyan till your last breath!" So in essence this question goes beyond the norm because it travels to the root of the Nirankari Mission. The question really is What is the Brahm-Gyan? The whole aim of the mission is to bring about universal humanity through spiritual enlightenment, so this is of utmost importance.
Now, Gyan is the Indo-European relative of the Latin Gnosis or Knowledge (Modern English), but I believe that Gnosis is not merely knowledge it is Wisdom, the next step after knowledge. After learning a skill, it is practiced and then Wisdom is ascertained about it that would not be known just through the theory, only through experience. Brahm-Gyan in actuality is not even a knowledge because it is not a skill or theory of some kind, it is an introduction to a supernormal phenomena or energy. So knowledge is in actuality is a limiting word, wisdom seems more appropriate.
I was asking Nirankar for help on this question when an example came into my mind through nature (as the Formless Lord likes to speak from). We have a seed; within this seed is the whole tree, plant, fruit etc. Now to call the seed the actual tree, plant, fruit etc, would not be wrong because when PLANTED, this seed will become that tree, plant, fruit etc. The reason why Babaji stresses that we make Gyan a part of our life is that we must plant the Brahm-Gyan (which is like a seed) in our hearts. We have planted it in the mind (which is not most fertile of soil at times); the right soil to plant the seed of Gyan is the heart. Baba Ji stresses how we are using our mind more than our heart and it is causing a machine like existence. The fruits of this tree are love, tolerance, equipoise, compassion etc. Acquiring these qualities without planting the Gyan is like searching the soil for crops without even planting the seed!!!!
After this introduction (Brahm-Gyan) of the Primordial Energy, Formless Lord, Timeless Lord, Ultimate Reality, Allah, Waheguru, Ram, Tao, Nirvana, God, Yaweh and any other of the million names of this Supernormal Phenomena what do we do?????? Cultivate a relationship with this Nirankar, through contemplation of it (simran), serving its creation (sewa) and meeting with those who know how to have a successful relation with Nirankar (sadh sangat).
Sadh Sangat, there is no use just carrying seeds and telling people we have seeds, because the seed is not what feeds us or gives us shade, the point is to grow that tree, fruit, or plant so we can eat the fruit and sit under it for its shade!!!!

SATGURU'S LAWS OF LIFE

We all are familiar with Sir Issac Newton’s laws of motion. Today I have converted laws of motion into laws of life. The conversion is given below.

1. A body in motion will continue in motion and a body in rest will remain in rest until and unless an external force is not applied on it.

Conversion - We are continuing to remain in this mortal coil and our mind also moves continuously in the maze of the world. We are supposed to make our precious life futile until and unless our Satguru has not gratified us with the knowledge of self-realization and engaged us with the supreme constant power.

2. The rate of change of linear momentum of a body is directly proportional to the external force applied on a body and this change takes place always in the direction of force applied.

Conversion - If we attend the Satsang regularly, do Seva and Sumiran then the rate of change of our nature and character is directly proportional to the teachings of Satguru. He averse all the bad deeds and rectifies it in to divine, soothing and fragrant deeds. This resilience takes place only when we leave ourselves in the spate of his teachings and follow his regimen.

3. To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Conversion - Our Satguru usually tells us to be a human being. He often says hat we are the children of omni-present Nirankar. So we should have the deeds, which can give bliss to somebody. If while doing the wrong things we are wondering that no body is watching no body or us can discover our inner feelings. So that is where we are making blunder. Might be some physical body is not watching us but Nirankar is staring us with thousands of eyes. When he starts blessing us, he gives us thousands of hands. But when he wants to punish us there he too has thousands of hands. So saints, we usher on our Satguru’s words because gathering thistles and expecting pickles is not possible.

SEWA: SELFLESS SERVICE

Sewa is one of our three pillars of Bhakti (Devotion) according to our way of life in the Sant Nirankari Mission. What does it mean? Why is it important? How can you do it?

Sewa means "selfless service". The word selfless is composed of two words "self" and "less", so in other words "less the self". The self here means false ego or the false self. According to the Brahm-Gyan, our real self is God which is represented as the soul in each being in the universe. Our personality, mind etc is our false sense of identity which is the perception of us through the eyes of maya (creation, or illusion in some senses). Most of what we do in our life has an objective or goal. For example such as to go to school to get an education, besides acquiring knowledge, I would say that majority of parents encourage a good education because it leads to a good career or business which in turn leads to money. So we go to school, work etc to earn money as the end goal. This satisfies our ego-self or personality which we identify with when we are in body-consciousness. But Sewa is different; here we are doing an activity without any goal or objective other than our Satguru would like us to do it and to serve mankind. In other words, we are doing this for the OTHERS. Until we reach a full enlightened consciousness where we are one with the Formless Lord we see the OTHER which is what is written here.

Sewa is done through Tan (body), Man (Mind, Feeling, and Emotions etc), Dhan (material things, ie money). So physically, mentally, and materially we can serve others. Baba Avtar Singh Ji used to say, " If you have a problem with your health, to physical sewa (construction, cleaning etc), if you have some emotional or mental issue help someone who has a similar problem and do simran, if you have money problems donate money to the Satsang and help the needy". Why is Sewa important? Sewa for many thousands of years has been a practice in many religions of the world and all of the prophets and saints of the world encouraged its practice.

Datavyamiti Yaddanam Deeyatenupa KarineDeshe Kale cha Patrecha Taddanam Sattvikam Smarutam

"That gift which is made to one who can make no return, with the feeling that it is one's duty to give, and which is given at the right place and time and to a worthy person, that gift is held sattvik" (best type).

Bhagvad Gita (chapter 17, verse 20)

Earn with hundreds of hands, and distribute with thousands" (Atharvaveda 3 -24-5)

But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,

14 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

Luke 14:13-14

If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?

18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

I John 3:17-18

Anyone who looks after and works for a widow and a poor person is like a warrior fighting for Allah's cause, or like a person who fasts during the day and prays all night. Prophet Muhammed ( Hadith)

In the midst of this world, do seva, and you shall be given a place of honor in the Court of the Lord.

Says Nanak, swing your arms in joy! (Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji p26)

A person, who devotes himself to the service of others, creates for himself a niche in their hearts Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj

When we serve others we are serving nothing other than ourselves. Through the eyes of Brahm-Gyan there is only ONE, Nirankar, Allah, God, Jevovah, Tao, Paramatma, Shiva, Hari, Govind etc., which pervades all of creation and every particle and atom. If this Supreme Spirit is everywhere, within us, without us there is even no distance between anything or anyone in the universe, there is only ONE. So when we are serving others we are serving ourselves, but not our false selves but the real self which is God or the soul. In a recent interview, Baba Hardev Singh Ji was asked why he refers to himself as Dass or servant. Babaji replied that he is the servant of Nirankar and that he sees the divine spark of God in each and every individual so he is also the servant of humanity. My dear saints, this is an example for what he wishes for us to develop as well !

This type of thinking is what leads into Sewa. In Sikh history there is one Gursikh who leads in an example of what Sewa really is, his name was Bhai Khaniya. He used to give water to wounded soliders in the battlefield, but what was unique was that he would give water to both his own army and the opposing armies as well. The soldiers of the Sikh army went to the Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji to complain about this Gursikh. The Satguru listened to the complaints and then asked that Bhai Khaniya be brought to the darbar. When Bhai Khaniya was brought to the darbar, the Satguru asked if the allegations about him were true and that he was serving water to all without distinction. Bhai ji responded that he was not aware who he was serving because all he saw was the Satguru ( Nirankar) in all he served. History declares that Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji hugged him and pronounced him a true Brahm-Gyani and told rest of the sangat that this is what a real sewadar should be.

So how can we do Sewa ?

- Help people physically
- Help someone cross the street if they need help
- Help Mahapurshas in the Bhawan (cleaning, construction etc)
- Donate your time to a soup kitchen or place where they cook for needy people
- Donate clothing or time to organization which will help the needy
- Help People mentally and emotionally
- Listen to people when they have problems
- Give people hope in times of distress
- Pray for people and help them get through there obstacles
- Help People Monetarily
- Donate money to Satsang
- Donate money to organizations which help the poor or needy
- Donate money to hospitals

The above are some examples, but basically help anyone and everyone you can whenever and with whatever they need. In the end of the day THEY (others) are really GOD.
